Bill, As crazy  it sounds, there is a good reason to vote for a dead person.  Following the nominating process, usually a primary election, both parties have candidates.  When you get close to election day, one of the nominees can die after it is too late to be replaced on the ballot.  Whether it is an R or D, if you do not vote for your candidate, dead or alive, you are conceeding that office to the other party.  By voting for your dead guy or gal, if they win, you get a new special election to keep your party in that office.

Absolutely, dead people should not be able to vote, but voting for dead people can be a good thing.

ROWLAND, A COUPLE OF WAYS TO LOOK AT IT.

ONE IT COULD LET THE GOVERNOR APPOINT SOMEONE TO REPLACE THE INDIVIDUAL. WHICH WOULD HAVE TO BE APPROVED BY THE STATE LEGISLATION.  TWO HAVE A NEW ELECTION BETWEEN THE TOP TWO INDIVIDUALS RUNNING, FOR OFFICE.  A NEW, RUN-OFF ELECTION.  WILL COST THE STATE A LOT OF MONEY.

NOWADAYS $$$ IS WHAT COUNTS. LOOK AT THE STATE OF ARIZONA

Bombshell’: 350,000 votes uncounted in Arizona. EVERY ELECTION Maricopa County, HAS A PROBLEM WITH THERE VOTING MACHINES.

.

Describing the revelation as a “bombshell,” Arizona Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake’s campaign spotlighted an election-integrity expert monitoring the vote count who said Friday that the ballots of more than 350,000 “high propensity” Republican voters have not been tabulated in Maricopa County.

Democrat Katie Hobbs leads by more than 1 point with more than 500,000 votes yet to be counted, 50.7% to 49.3%.

But Gina Swoboda told “The Charlie Kirk Show” the county gave her a readout Friday morning through her team’s legal observers reporting “292,000 Election Day drop-offs have completed signature verification, but have not yet begun to go to adjudication, so that’s group one.”

Another 12,000 uncounted votes were among the 17,000 votes that were impacted by printer issues. Voters were given the option of placing their votes in what was called “ballot box 3.” A further 30,000 to 40,000 were cast on Election Day under an emergency provision.

Lake’s campaign tweeted: “The layman’s explanation of the ‘bombshell’ is that there are SIGNIFICANTLY more Republican ballots that we expected that have still yet to be counted.”

Earlier, an adviser for Lake said she believed that among the roughly 500,000 votes remaining to be counted, there is “no mathematical path” for Hobbs to win.

In any case, the vote counting in Maricopa County will not resume until sometime next week, according to county elections chairman Bill Gates. The undecided senatorial race between Democrat Sen. Mark Kelly and Republican challenger Blake Masters also is affected by the vote-count delay.

The Republican National Committee, along with the Lake and Masters campaigns, are suing Maricopa County over issues with the voting tabulation machines.

On Election Day, dozens of polling stations ran out of paper ballots, impacting tens of thousands of votes. And some 20% of the polling stations had problems with vote tabulators.

Gates and Vice Chairman Clint Hickman issued a statement saying Arizona elections officials will investigate and “all ballots will be counted securely and accurately.”

Bill,

Not to beat a "dead horse" so to speak, and in this case I think it was a donkey, but you should know that in every state that I am aware of, when a candidate/nominee dies, the governing body of that party has the ability to nominate a new person to take the dead person's  place.  The problem arises when it gets too close to the election for anyone to make the new nomination.  Ballots have been printed, and the dead person's name is going to be there on election day.  The theory is, and you may not agree, that a party should not forfeit its abilty to have a candidate when through no fault of its own, a duly nominated person dies or becomes disqualified.  Their only remedy is to vote for the dead person, hope he or she wins, and run their new candidate in a special election.

WASHINGTON (AP) — "Former President Donald Trump is suing the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol to avoid cooperating with a subpoena requiring him to testify."

What is he afraid of?  What is he hiding?

Is there any sold evidence (aka proof) about voting misdeeds in AZ???  I know one candidate for gov. there (her name rhymes with fake) constantly makes false, unsupported claims about election wrongdoings.  Loosers do that.

"Doc, is there anything you can do for my flatulence? It's embarrassing."
"OK. I can prescribe these pills."
"Fortunately, they're the silent but deadly type."
"Here's another prescription..."
"What's this one for?"
"A hearing test."yes

Fox News   11/14/2022   https://www.foxnews.com/politics/mike-pence-says-trump-endangered-me-my-family-reckless-words-january-6

Former Vice President Mike Pence says former President Donald Trump's "reckless" words on January 6 endangered him and his family.

Pence opened up on Trump in an interview with ABC News, attacking Trump's actions during the storming of the U.S. Capitol. Pence was inside the Capitol building during the riot, along with his wife and daughter.

"The president’s words that day at the rally endangered me and my family and everyone at the Capitol building," Pence told ABC. "The president’s words were reckless, and his actions were reckless. It was clear he decided to be part of the problem."

Trump targeted Pence during the riot with a tweet claiming he didn't have "the courage" to refuse to certify President Biden's 2020 election victory, something Pence lacked the legal authority to do.

"I turned to my daughter, who was standing nearby, and I said, 'It doesn't take courage to break the law. It takes courage to uphold the law,'" he told interviewer David Muir.

The statement is Pence's most aggressive condemnation of Trump's actions on January 6 since leaving the White House.

The storming of the U.S. Capitol occurred after a Trump rally in Washington. Trump urged his supporters to march on the building during his address.

Pence's interview comes just days before the release of his new book, a memoir titled "So Help Me God."

Trump is widely expected to announce his 2024 presidential run on Tuesday, and Pence is a potential challenger for the role.

Pence declined to answer when asked whether he plans to run, however. He has said he would like someone "better" than Trump to run.

So sorry for your cat loss. I don't know if it gets harder or easier to come to grips with the loss of our animals as we age. At some point you start worrying about who will look after them if we beat them to the grave and should we replace them. I'm typing this in bed next to Roxanna looking at four Sheltie paws in the air between my legs that belong to Zara who is my age in dog years. Her companion Patrick passed away earlier this year and it was hard on all of us. I can't really imagine life without a dog, but don't know who would take care of her replacement if Roxanna and I would go first.

Robert – This is Lexxee & Jazzee, who went to dog heaven a few years ago.  Jazzee went first and Lexxee followed a couple years later. They were great dogs and we do miss them.  We have had Shelties over the last 50 years and found them to be great friends and have loved all of them dearly.  We have decided that Lexxee & Jazzee would be our last dogs.  The main reason is what you stated, I can't really imagine life without a dog, but don't know who would take care of her replacement if Carole and I would go first. Life without a dog is sad but we think we made the right decision.

Great to see the posts from the animal lover!

We currently have 2 dogs, a cat (who lets us live with him), 3 horses and an aquarium. We have lost many over the years and it is so hard.  But rescued some from the local humane society and that feels good.
