Hello Rowland,

You make some invalid assumptions in your two messages. You have no idea if I am affiliated with any political party. Of course, I have never spoken with Beta O.. or paid much attention to him or Texas politics.

I don’t reside in Mayberry: not anything like that TV show that portrayed people as provincial “hicks in the sticks:” Intended slight noted.

I certainly understand the ongoing seriousness of the defund movement. I have visited or participated in scientific conferences in several of the cities you list and seen the abysmal conditions. Yes, we do live in relative safety, by intent—our daughter and 10-year-old grandson live with us—thus safety is a high propriety, especially in these dangerous times. I never have denied the seriousness or longevity of the defund actions and feel empathy and sympathy for those who live in deeply troubled cities across the country. I have colleagues, friends and relatives in them.

It strikes me we should follow the old treaty and agree to disagree on some things. I suspect we actually agree more than we disagree, especially on larger matters. Such as love of country, freedom and democracy, a deep loathing of Putin’s war and feeling fortunate to have been born American. ( I’d add a passion for fly fishing but maybe you don't enjoy casting a fly in hill country.☺☺)

Men are very sensitive..

Some construction workers are working on a high building early in the morning.

Sadly, Steve slips off a ledge, spirals down to the ground and is critically injured.

They attempt to save him with CPR, but there is a large hole in his skull that the blood keeps squirting out of, and he dies.

Bill says 'Someone needs to tell Steve's wife'. Joey says 'I'll do it, I'm very sensitive'.

Joey goes off, then a few hours later comes back with two cases of beer.

Bill asks 'Where did you get the beer?'

Joey says 'Steve's wife gave it to me'.

Bill says 'You told her Steve was dead and she gave you beer?'

'Not exactly. When she answered the door I said "You must be Steve's widow', she said 'I'm not a widow" and I said "I bet you two cases of beer you are".'
