When The Government Says “Don’t Worry”, Then It’s Time To Panic…

As you already know, in 2008 we experienced one of the greatest financial meltdowns in modern history.

Markets around the world crashed. Stock prices dropped. Once “invincible” financial institutions started showing signs of collapse.

Then Governments “came to the rescue”, handing out massive bailouts and stimulus packages to keep the world economy afloat.

We’ve been told these drastic measures prevented a total collapse of our system...

But all it did was show the cracks in the system. Many lost faith in the financial system and the U.S Government.

Carry a fork with you. If someone tries to rob you, pull it out of your pocket and say, "thank you Lord for this meal I’m about to have" and charge at them with the fork.

I don’t care how nice the hand soap smells, you should never walk out of the restroom sniffing your fingers.

If your kids suddenly start getting along and are nice to each other for no reason, be very suspicious.

Trump Defense Sec: Believe Him When He Says He’ll Use Military Against Americans

Story by Nicole Lafond (website--below from 10/15/24)

Over the weekend, Trump rolled out his now-familiar promise to deploy the military against Americans with a chilling, new description of his political opponents: “the enemy from within.”

Now, yet another of Trump’s former administration officials is sounding the alarm on just how seriously we need to take Trump’s promises to his base.

In response to Trump’s weekend remarks to Fox News, his former Defense Secretary Mark Esper was asked by CNN’s Kaitlan Collins whether he has real concerns about Trump trying to use the “National Guard, the military, against U.S. citizens” if he wins in a few short weeks.

“Yes I do, of course,” Esper said Monday in response to Collins’ question. “Because I lived through that, and I saw over the summer of 2020 where President Trump and those around him wanted to use the National Guard in various capacities in cities such as Chicago and Portland and Seattle.”

As my colleague David Kurtz noted Tuesday morning, Trump had spent the weekend making unhinged promises to his supporters about just how he would quench his thirst for retribution. Perhaps most notable were his remarks to Fox News and Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo, in which he argued that any chaos on Election Day would come from “radical left lunatics,” not from his supporters, whom he has already primed and prepped to believe any election result that doesn’t put him back in the White House will be stolen, the result of fraud. It was then that he suggested the military should be brought in to deal with his political foes.-->

Back at ya, sir. Enjoy it all and stay well.

Crazy plan he talks about (a lot). We, the American public, would ultimately pay the bill.

‘Off the charts’: How Trump tariffs would shock U.S., world economies

If implemented, the former president’s tariff plans would lead to higher costs, stock market volatility and feuds with the rest of the world.

October 16, 2024 at 6:00 a.m. EDT

Former president Donald Trump is campaigning on the most significant increase in tariffs in close to a century, preparing an attack on the international trade order that would likely raise prices, hurt the stock market and spark economic feuds with much of the world.

Trump’s trade plans, a staple of his stump speeches, have fluctuated, but he consistently calls for steep duties to discourage imports and promote domestic production. The former president has floated “automatic” tariffs of 10 percent to 20 percent on every U.S. trading partner, 60 percent levies on goods from China, and rates as high as 100, 200 or even 1,000 percent in other circumstances.

These proposals would go far beyond the disruptive trade wars of his first term even if they are only partially implemented. They would wrench the nation out of the system of global interdependence that arose in recent decades, making the U.S. economy much more isolated and autonomous, like it was in the late 19th century. (Trump last week falsely claimed that the United States was never richer than in the 1890s, when it had high trade barriers.)

“To me, the most beautiful word in the dictionary is tariff. And it’s my favorite,” Trump said in Chicago on Tuesday. “I'm a believer in tariffs.”

The consequences would be far-reaching: Americans would be hit by higher prices for grocery staples from abroad, such as fruit, vegetables and coffee. Domestic firms dependent on imports would need to either figure out new supply chains or raise costs for consumers. U.S. manufacturers would almost certainly see sharp declines in orders from abroad as foreign nations impose retaliatory tariffs.

“We are talking about a plan of historic significance: It would be enormous, and the blowback would be even more enormous,” said Douglas A. Irwin, an economist at Dartmouth College who authored a 2017 book on the history of U.S. trade policy. “This would stand way off the charts.”

Whither Republicans after 2024?

Republicans began outnumbering Whigs in 1856, and the Whig party soon disappeared.  Assuming that the U.S. survives 2024 as a constitutional republic, what will become of the Trump-fractured Republican party?

PRRI (a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to conducting independent research) today reported on its periodic "American Values Survey" (August 16-September 4, 2024).  In that recent survey, 61% of Republicans agreed with the following statement:  "Immigrants are poisoning the blood of our country." Historically affiliated Republicans who can't brook that Trumpian thesis may someday lead a sustainable party, but will they still call themselves "Republican"?

Good questions Gary. Thank you. Who has answers? Even to yesterday's history.

-------------------

To the concerns about immigrants.

If you go back far enough in human history, we are all descendants of recent immigrants to North America. From the north, east and south, maybe west.

The first humans emerged in Africa around two million years ago, long before the modern humans known as Homo sapiens appeared on the same continent.

Anthropologists still don’t know much about how different groups of early humans interacted and mated with each other over this stretch of prehistory: Millions of years. The earth is thought to be about 2.5 billion years old so anatomically recognizable humans --aka "modern"  humans or Homo sapiens-- are very recent inhabitants of Earth.

Look up "deep time."

(well this will probably get some good folks fired upsmiley)

Can military forces be used to quash an 'enemy within,' like Trump suggested? Here's what to know (msn.com)

Story by Kinsey Crowley, USA TODAY   10/17/24

Speaking on Fox News Sunday, former President Donald Trump suggested using the military on U.S. soil to tamp down on chaos on Nov. 5.

When asked if he was worried about foreign-agitated violence on Election Day, he said:

"I think the bigger problem is the enemy within," he said, saying the "radical left-lunatics" could pose a potential problem on Election Day. "It should be very easily handled by, if necessary, by National Guard or if really necessary by the military."

Some Republicans were uncomfortable with this notion, and Vice President Kamala Harris jumped on the comment, showing the video of Trump's interview at a rally in Pennsylvania the next night.

Only the president of the United States has control over the military. That means President Joe Biden will remain the commander-in-chief until either Trump or Harris is likely inaugurated on Jan. 20, 2025.

The National Guard serves state and federal functions but is largely under control of state governors. The president controls the D.C. National Guard.

THE GOVERNOR OF EACH HAS CONTROL OF THE NATIONAL GUARD. THEY CAN BE CALLED UP TO STATE ACTIVE DUTY FOR ALL TYPES OF THINGS, FIRES, EARTHQUAKES RIOTS.

LOOK AT THE LOS ANGELES RIOT EARLY 1960'S.  ALSO MANY OTHER RIOTS.  FOREST FIRES, FLOODS, ETC.

WHEN I WORKED  FULL FOR THE CALIFORNIA NATIONAL GUARD AS A CIVILIAN TECH. I WAS ALSO A MEMBER OF THE CA NATIONAL GUARD. IN EMERGENCY I WORKED IN THE EOC.  12 HOUR SHIFTS.  DAM GOOD PAY. LOVE THE NIGHT SHIFT.

THE ONE I REMEMBER THE MOST WAS OCT 17TH. MY BIRTHDAY.

THE WIFE AND I WAS JUST SITTING DOWN TO DINNER WHEN IT HAPPENED. CHANGED CLOTHES GRABBED MY KEYS AND BADGES. WENT TO THE STATE HQ.  OPENED THE EOC EMERGENCY CENTER. GOT BACK HOME 24 HOURS LATER.

HAD TWO CHOICES, STATE ACTIVE DUTY OR AS A TECHNICIAN. ALWAYS AS STATE ACTIVE DUTY. MORE PAY.

EVEN AFTER I RETIRED I WOULD WORK WHEN NEEDED.  EVEN WORKED AS A CIVILIAN  DOING  SUPPORT WORK HELPING GET EQUIPMENT WHERE NEEDED.  NOT ONLY IN CA.  OTHER STATES.  WHAT HELPED ME OUT WAS I WOULD GO TO MILITARY SCHOOLS AND MEET A LOT OF PEOPLE.  EXCHANGE PHONE NUMBERS ETC, NEED SOMETHING. MAKE A PHONE CALL.

SIDE NOTE LAST ELECTION  WHEN TRUMP LOST HE RECOMMENDED THAT THE NATIONAL GUARD BE CALLED UP.

THE REQUEST TURNED DOWN
