Pentagon denies Washington D.C. mayor’s request for National Guard to help handle the migrant crisis
Democrats fall all over themselves to push for more illegal immigration. However, that all changes when they’re the ones forced to deal with the fallout.
The Pentagon has refused to send National Guard troops to Washington, D.C., to help deal with the influx of migrants in the city, the Daily Wire reported. This is the second time Democratic Mayor Muriel Bowser’s request for troops was turned down.
A letter Monday from the Department of Defense Monday informed Bowser that the National Guard was simply not able to handle the task. Besides lacking the equipment necessary for humanitarian outreach, the armory lacks air conditioning making the it unsuitable for housing civilians.
“The DC National Guard has no specific experience in or training for this kind of mission or unique skills for providing facility management, feeding, sanitation, or ground support,” the letter to Bowser stated. This request comes at a time when Bowser should be making good on her earlier promise.
Along with other deep-blue cities, leaders in the District of Columbia offered itself up as a “sanctuary” for illegal immigrants. That promise was something GOP Texas Gov. Gregg Abbott has used to his advantage.
President Joe Biden has refused to stem the tide of border crossers as border states like Texas and Arizona struggle to keep up, so Abbott is sending the people to the capital. “The Biden administration and a lot of leaders in Congress have no idea about the chaos they have caused by their open border policies,” Abbott said last spring.
“And if they’re not going to come to the border, I’m going to take the border to them in Washington, D.C.” Now Bowser is begging for help, but the Pentagon is unable to offer any.
“The federal government denied Mayor Bowser’s second request for help because they deny the reality of Biden’s border crisis. D.C. is experiencing a fraction of what Texas faces every day. Texas will continue securing the border until Biden does his job,” Abbott said.
Texas should not have to face the hardship imposed on it by the lawmakers in Washington. Bowser and her fellow Democrats in D.C. should share the burden.
