Heroes

By Jared Jenkins

In war, there are lives risked and lives taken

Men and women give their best to defend what they love

They defend their country

Their honor Their people Some call them soldiers

Others call them heroes

Our veterans have risked their lives for us They have lived through hell and fought with honor

Many have killed And regretted doing soFor every life, there is a soul For every soul, there is a life

For those who have died, we show great appreciation and remembrance

For those who live, along with them live the horrific memories of battle

Some, are memories of defeat, Some, are memories of victory

Wonderful messages about Memorial Day.  All true. Thank you to all of our vets from RHS.

In memory of my Mom, Dad & Uncle--all served during WWII. They survived. My Dad, who flew a spotter plane off the battleship USS New Mexico, was a decorated hero during the war in the Pacific.

Albanese Confectionery Group, Inc. Recalls Select Peanut Butter Products Because of Possible Health Risk

Albanese Confectionery Group, Inc. of Merrillville, Indiana is voluntarily recalling Albanese® Mini and Giant Peanut Butter Cups because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.  Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.

This recall is a direct result of the J.M. Smucker Co. Jif® Peanut Butter recall.  This product was not manufactured onsite at Albanese Confectionery Group, Inc. No illnesses have been reported to date.

The products were distributed nationwide and reached consumers through select retail stores. The products are sold in bulk bins unpackaged

Dick, had no idea Dub was a war hero.  What I did know was that he was a great Little League coach.  In fact, have always thought he was the best coach I ever had.

My dad  (Art Schuerman), back row far right, with his crew/plane was shot down over Berlin, Germany on March 17, 1945 - he and two other crew members survived the crash and were put in a prison camp until World War II ended ......

Thank you Peaches !   The war ended May 8, 1945 - the Russians liberated the prison camp my dad was in - and my dad made it back to the states the first part of July - in time for my birth .....   he was so fortunate to only spend a few months in the POW camp as so many men had been there for much much longer !
