Dick - I hope you are right and this isn't going to happen.

Per the Wall Street Journal

WASHINGTON—The Biden administration is in talks to offer immigrant families that were separated during the Trump administration around $450,000 a person in compensation, according to people familiar with the matter, as several agencies work to resolve lawsuits filed on behalf of parents and children who say the government subjected them to lasting psychological trauma.

MSN -

The Biden administration is considering paying illegal immigrant families who were separated at the border under former President Donald Trump’s policies up to $450,000 each, The Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday.

The illegal immigrants filed a lawsuit claiming the federal government detention resulted in major psychological trauma, according to the WSJ. Most of the families were made up of one parent and child who could receive around $1 million in payouts, though the amount could vary by family depending on the circumstances.

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) represents some of the families involved in the lawsuit against the Departments of Justice, Homeland Security (DHS) and Health and Human Services, the WSJ reported. Around 940 families filed claims and the number of those who might qualify for the settlement is expected to be lower.

Happy Birthday to the United States Marine Corps!

All over the world, Marines will be holding Birthday Celebrations to honor their legacy since 1775. Since 1921, the reading of Major General John A. Lejeune’s order No. 47 has been a mainstay of every Marine Corps Birthday Ball, serving as the official verbal declaration of the history, mission and traditions of the Corps.

On November 10, 1775, a Corps of Marines was created by a resolution of Continental Congress. Since that date many thousand men have borne the name "Marine.” In memory of them it is fitting that we who are Marines should commemorate the birthday of our Corps by calling to mind the glories of its long and illustrious history.

The record of our corps is one which will bear comparison with that of the most famous military organizations in the world's history. During 90 of the 146 years of its existence the Marine Corps has been in action against the Nation's foes.

From the Battle of Trenton to the Argonne, Marines have won foremost honors in war, and in the long eras of tranquility at home, generation after generation of Marines have grown gray in war in both hemispheres and in every corner of the seven seas, that our country and its citizens might enjoy peace and security.

In every battle and skirmish since the birth of our corps, Marines have acquitted themselves with the greatest distinction, winning new honors on each occasion until the term "Marine" has come to signify all that is highest in military
efficiency and soldierly virtue.

This high name of distinction and soldierly repute we who are Marines today have received from those who preceded us in the corps. With it we have also received from them the eternal spirit which has animated our corps from generation to generation and has been the distinguishing mark of the Marines in every age. So long as that spirit continues to flourish Marines will be found equal to every emergency in the future as they have been in the past, and the men of our Nation will regard us as worthy successors to the long line of illustrious men who have served as "Soldiers of the Sea" since the founding of the Corps.”

One of my favorite Marine Corps Birthday Ball traditions, is the serving of the cake. Cake is cut with a sword (what else did you expect from a Marine, a knife?) then given to the oldest Marine in attendance and then passed to the youngest. This signifies the passing of experience and knowledge from the old to the young in the Corps. Additionally, the oldest issued weapon in the United States military arsenal is the Non-commissioned Officer (NCO) sword. No matter where Marines are on November 10, they gather in celebration. Every Marine deserves to hear the words “Happy Birthday, Marine.” Please expect that Birthday wish to be returned with a dog bark, a YUT, or a loud, Semper Fidelis!

So HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MARINES and SEMPER FIDELIS!

Dick, that sounds a lot like Sheridan, WY, where we used to live and Deadwood/Sturgis, SD, where we now live in the summer. We love living in our "bubble".

With everything going on in America, I have been trying to live in a bubble also, watching less news and trying to worry about just things that affect me and my family. No matter how hard I try, I still hear and read things that is happening out in the real world that just doesn’t make sense. It makes me wonder if this is the new world and we just have to get use to it or if the majority of people will pick new leaders that will try and save this great country.

We have changed so much from the 60’s, on how we deal with minorities because of great men like JFK and Matin Luther King and still need to continue making changes to make sure everyone has equal opportunities.

I pray that everything will work out for the best and our grandchildren and great grandchildren will have the same opportunities that we had.

In the mean time I will continue sending things that hopefully will make you smile.

Hello Will,

Sorry but I only have a vague memory of Bertinoli. Just like many things!  NMSU vs Bama is like NMMI vs a Texas state 4A champion--no contest.

Our "Democracy" has already survived Donald...The question is can our "Country" survive Biden and his crew of "Equity" Idiots?  Dick, I truly believe you are sincere, but the Montana Democrat Party bears no to little resemblance to the National Democrat Party and its goals for America.  Keep on riding your horse to work, spitting your chaw, and getting your mail from the Pony Express.  Love you, Brother.

I just found out yesterday about it.

This is from my Cousin Jerry Walker & his Wife. THEIR SON FOLLOWED IN HIS DAD'S FOOTSTEPS'  AN WHEN JERRY RETRIED, JASON BECAME THE PASTOR OF THE CHURCH

Our son, Jason Andrew Walker, fell asleep on October 13th, 2021, and awoke in the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Jason loved his wife Lisa and each of his seven kids Hayley, Danielle, Gabriel, Samantha, Liam, Mackenzie, and Jackson. The children range from less than a year old to a sophomore in college.

He also loved his church family, and he had a passion to serve everyone he met and especially the people of New York City. His legacy is love, encouragement, and living his faith in a real way every day of his life.

As the Pastor of Bay Ridge Baptist Church in Brooklyn, New York he epitomized Christ’s love and shared his testimony and his faith not only verbally but more importantly, he lived his faith as an example to others. Here are a few pictures of him with his bride Lisa, and a picture of Jason with his family at a relative wedding.   I WILL ADD PHOTOS LATER.

“Well done thou good and faithful servant” are the words I have no doubt my brother Pastor Jason Andrew Walker heard this morning when he went to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

He loved his wife Lisa and each of his seven kids Hayley, Danielle, Gabriel, Samantha, Liam, Mackenzie, and Jackson. The children range from less than a year old to a sophomore in college.

He also loved his church family and he had a passion to serve everyone he met and especially the people of New York City. His legacy is love, encouragement, and living his faith in a real way every day of his life.

All of the funds collected through this page will go directly to his wife Lisa to support her with funeral and living expenses.

If he touched your life please pray for his family and consider supporting them in their time of need.

You can also send donations in the mail with checks made out to Lisa Walker.

PRAYERS FOR ALL

How many remember the high food prices, gas prices and interest rates of the late 70’s and early 80’s?
I think interest rates hit 22%.  I was in construction at the time, which was at a standstill because of mortgage rates.  I did a search on interest rates in the 70’s & 80’s and got what is below.  I have always thought history is a great indicator of the future.

I hope our reckless spending will not cause the same results. Below is what I found.

"In the late 1970s, in America, prices were rising fast. In other words, inflation was running rampant, usually thought to be the result of the oil crisis of that era, government overspending, and the self-fulfilling prophecy of higher prices leading to higher wages leading to higher prices. The Fed was resolved to stop inflation. So, Chairman Paul Volcker (who is pictured above) kept raising rates in 1980 and ’81, eventually bringing both the economy and inflation to a standstill.
The Fed showed great “ability to effect change,” to use your phrase, though the cost of killing inflation was a deep recession. You could hardly call the Fed’s behavior “inaction.”

I FIRST STARTED READING THIS EMAIL AND WAS READING FAST UNTIL I REACHED THE THIRD SENTENCE. I STOPPED THEN AND STARTED OVER, READING SLOWER, AND THINKING ABOUT EVERY WORD... IT MAKES YOU STOP AND THINK.

So, please READ SLOWLY!

AND THEN IT IS WINTER :

You know time has a way of moving quickly and catching you unaware of the passing years. It seems like yesterday that I was young, just married, and embarking on my new life with my mate. Yet in a way, it seems like eons ago, and I wonder where all those years went.

I know that I lived them all. I have glimpses of how it was back then and of all my hopes and dreams. But, here it is... the winter of my life, and it catches me by surprise... How did I get here so fast? Where did the years go and where did my youth go? I remember well seeing older people through the years and thinking that those "older people" were years away from me and that winter was so far off that I could not fathom it or imagine fully what it would be like.

But, here it is...my friends are retired and getting grey... they move slower and I see an older person in myself now. Some are in better and some worse shape than me... but, I see the great change... Not like the ones that I remember who were young and vibrant...but, like me, their age is beginning to show and we are now those older folks that we used to see and never thought we'd be.

Each day now, I find that just getting a shower is a real target for the day! And taking a nap is not a treat anymore... it's mandatory! Cause if I don't on my own free will... I just fall asleep where I sit!

And so... now I enter this new season of my life unprepared for all the aches and pains and the loss of strength and ability to go and do things that I wish I had done but never did!! But, at least I know, that though the winter has come, and I'm not sure how long it will last... this I know, that when it's over on this earth... it's over.  A new adventure will begin!

Yes, I have regrets. There are things I wish I hadn't done... things I should have done, but indeed, there are also many things I'm happy to have done. It's all in a lifetime.

So, if you're not in your winter yet... let me remind you, that it will be here faster than you think. So, whatever you would like to accomplish in your life, please do it quickly! Don't put things off too long!! Life goes by quickly. So, do what you can TODAY, as you can never be sure whether this is your winter or not!

You have no promise that you will see all the seasons of your life... so, LIVE FOR TODAY and say all the things that you want your loved ones to remember.. and hope that they appreciate and love you for all the things that you have done for them in all the years past!!

"Life" is a GIFT to you. The way you live your life is your gift to those who come after. Make it a fantastic one.

Remember: "It is Health that is real Wealth and not pieces of gold and silver."

~Your kids are becoming you......but your grandchildren are perfect!

~Going out is good.. coming home is even better!

~You forget names... but it's OK, because other people forgot they even knew you!!!

~You realize you're never going to be really good at anything.... especially golf.

~The things you used to care to do, you no longer care to do, but you really do care that you don't care to do them anymore.

~You sleep better on a lounge chair with the TV blaring than in bed. It's called "pre-sleep."

~You miss the days when everything worked with just an "ON" and "OFF" switch..

~You tend to use more 4 letter words ... "what?"..."when?"...???

~Now that you can afford expensive jewelry, it's not safe to wear it anywhere.

~You notice everything they sell in stores is "sleeveless?!"

~What used to be freckles are now liver spots.

~Everybody whispers.

~You have 3 sizes of clothes in your closet.... 2 of which you will never wear.

~But "Old" is good in some things:

Old Songs, Old movies ... and best of all, our dear ...OLD FRIENDS!!

Also to all our Younger Friends & our families, Stay well.

Sincerely

"OLD FRIEND!

p.s. I stole this from the RHS 65 site
