Louise Haley answered God’s call April 9 and joined him in heaven after a long and painful battle with COPD.
She passed peacefully at home in the company of her husband Mack Haley, her sister Sue Hobbs, and her beloved Australian Shepard Zoe.
Louise Ann Morgan was born April 5, 1945 to O.W. and Martha Morgan. She was a rambunctious tomboy as a child and the neighborhood bully dare not pick on her little brother. As she moved on from childhood to middle and high school, she grew into a beautiful young woman. She attended Roswell High School and was for two years, a varsity cheerleader. Following graduation in 1963 she attended New Mexico State University where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority.
She and her future husband Mack Haley never met while in college, however he noticed her, saying “that’s got to be one of the most beautiful women in the world.” A few years later they met while both were working at PSL and a life partnership was born. The two were married in Las Cruces, September 28, 1971. Following a honeymoon in Rio, they returned to Las Cruces. After a few months, Mack accepted a position with the Bell System and the couple moved to Roswell, where their son Jay was born in 1974. Mack often told Louise she gave him the two best gifts of his life; the day she married him and the day she presented him a fantastic baby boy.
As beautiful as Louise was, her physical beauty was exceeded by her inner beauty. She was exceptionally generous, giving, and compassionate. She was always there to help a friend or family member, a child, or an animal. She served a year as a volunteer teaching assistant at East Picacho Elementary School helping children learn to read, an experience she considered one of the most rewarding of her life. She loved all animals, especially dogs and would not tolerate mistreatment of any animal, except spiders.
Her unfulfilled dream was to own a Clydesdale horse.
Louise and Mack shared 52 and a half years of marriage and companionship raised a remarkable son, and disproved the old adage that workplace romances never work.
Those left to mourn her include her beloved husband Mack Haley and son COL Jay W. Haley (Brooke), United States Army; her sister Sue Hobbs of Roswell; her nieces Julie Ann McCormack and Deborah Sue Hobbs; her nephew Tal Austin Price all of Roswell
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother John Morgan.
A memorial service will take place on Wednesday, April 17 at 3:00pm at Desert Oasis Church, 1640 Hickory Loop, STE 101. Remains will be interred at a later date at South Park Cemetery in Roswell, NM.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to Safe Haven Animal Sanctuary in Louise’s name.
