Julian Guerra

Lubbock- Julian Guerra passed away Friday, January 5, 2018. Family and friends

will gather to celebrate his life of 73 years on Monday, January 8, 2018 from 9:30-11 a.m

. at Agape United Methodist Church.

Julian was born on December 24, 1944 in Harlingen, TX to Abelardo "Eddie"

and Dominga "Minnie" (Villarreal) Guerra. Julian married Sharon Adams on May 20, 1983.

Julian graduated from Roswell High School in 1963 and obtained

an undergraduate and Master's Degree from Eastern New Mexico University,

where he played baseball and basketball.

He was a financial planner, and in retirement, driver for the Airport Shelter Park

with his "gang". Survivors include his wife, Sharon; son,

Dr. Rick DeSplinter (Mel) of Wichita, KS; daughter, Kelly An (Danny) of Houston;

his granddaughters, Lindsey, Lauren (their mother, Dr. Traci DeSplinter) and Kennedy An

. Julian was preceded in death by his parents; sister; and infant

Julian was one of the good guys and quite an athlete. I really enjoyed the time I spent with him at our last Reunion.

Sad to learn of Julian's death.  He was a friend at RHS and at ENMU...indeed, "one of the good guys."

Julian was a good man, a bright guy and a superior athlete.  His passing is hard to take.  RIP my friend. Dick

So sad to hear of Julian's passing. Julian was always a great person in school and a terrific athlete. God bless his wife and family. He will be missed.
