Valerie Aston (Kobal)

Kaye & I were playmates from early childhood.  She was one of my very best friends all through grammer school, junior high and high school.  She and I frequently got in trouble together because she was always daring me to do somethin, and I couldn't resist.  One time we were throwing water ballooons in the street near her house, and got some guy in a mercedes convertible who stopped the car and chased us into her house where her dad protected us.  Her parents always got a kick out of our antics whereas my parents wanted me to be a "proper young lady".  I was really looking forward to seeing her again as we had fallen completely out of touch.  She was very smart and so funny that I would laugh until I couldn't get my breathe. I am sadden by her loss.  During our freshman year away at college, she had a nervous breakdown, and at Christmas I stood outside her bedroom door and begged her to talk to me.  She never would.  I feel so sad at what became of her life.  I hope that it gave her some comfort and joy.  Valerie Aston Kobal
