Washington Pays for Illegals With COVID Cash

A new report from the Economic Policy Innovation Center (EPIC) shows the state of Washington used funds administered by the Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund (SLFRF) to cover $340 million in checks to illegals.

The program this funding went to had been handing out $1,000 checks to illegals like they were hotcakes, as first reported by Fox News on February 3rd.

With the state of Washington receiving over $4.4 billion in funding from the program, this was a solid chunk of federal money being reappropriated.

Approved by the WA state legislature in April 2021, this was a major misdirection for “another round of funding for undocumented Washingtonians,” according to reports on the program.

Before EPIC uncovered the maleficence of SLRF, the Washington COVID-19 Immigrant Relief Fund had only been assembled in 2020. Built to manage grant checks for those who couldn’t get relief checks due to their immigration status, but that money had run dry until the $340 million injection of cash.

With 10% off the top being spent on community-based organizations, this money has been disappearing quickly with little to no oversight.

The best part of all this is just how untraceable all this money is. As the EPIC report explained,

“The $340 million project is categorized as a ‘cash transfer’ expenditure under the SLFRF, approved for the State of Washington. This means the Biden Administration directly subsidized ‘undocumented’ immigration under the guise of COVID-19 pandemic relief.”

Being here illegally, they have no ID and no way to cash these checks with an account. The state knew this, and set programs up to handle this. With no authenticated ID, there was no proof people didn’t receive multiple checks or that citizens didn’t receive the checks, either.

As these programs for illegals have proven time and again, they are rife with abuse and misdirection of funds.

The State of Washington knew this when they set up the funding and had seen it firsthand by the time they gave them the extra $340 million from taxpayer money. Yet they still chose to hand the money over with little thought for their taxpayers.
