4 VACCINES LINKED TO A LOWER RISK OF DEMENTIA

Some vaccine-preventable diseases are linked to accelerated brain atrophy and increased dementia risk years down the line.

Vaccines don’t just protect us from infectious diseases or lessen their effects. Some are also associated with a reduced risk for dementia, research shows.

“They’ll protect against these really potentially severe infections, especially in older adults, and preventing that alone is huge,” said Avram Bukhbinder, a resident physician at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston who has conducted research on vaccines and dementia risk.

“There seems to also be some kind of added benefit and ultimately it just adds a more compelling reason” to get routine vaccines, he said.

Studies have found that many vaccines may be associated with a reduced risk of dementia — here are four of the most common ones with the strongest links--- (comment :lots of reproducible research, done & reported correctly on this—please go to the story to see the discussion).

Back 3 -4 months ago, Bill told us he would not be taking care of this site anymore as of the end of Sept.  Maybe that is why it has come to a standstill...nobody pushing the buttons anymore.

I am having a great October in Leland, North Carlonia, weather has been great and all the hurricanes that came our way stayed out in the ocean.  We did get big waves that knocked a couple of beach houses into the sea. Other than that a great but busy October. 

Hopefully, my good friend, Dick can keep us posted on how Trump is working on peace in the Middle East and doing a great job running the country. 😊 I always look forward to his post.

When we were in high school, JFK was president.  I had moved from Roswell to New Orleans.  JFK's motorcade there on May 4, 1962 passed down St. Charles Avenue, which was an easy walk from my home.  I took this photo then, realizing decades later that he'd been riding in the 1961 Lincoln Continental limousine in which he was later assassinated.

In Berlin on June 26, 1963, soon after we'd graduated, JFK delivered this ever-relevant line in one of his most famous speeches:

Randy – I use to love going to the Eastern New Mexico Fair when I was young.  The exhibits, rides and food were good.  Somehow a fair hot dog always tasted better. Over the years we have gone to different fairs in states we lived in, but as teenagers in Roswell they were always better.

Hey Randy, your post about the Texas State Fair brought back some childhood memories of mine. My grandmother Marie who married my grandfather Frank Barry Baranowski after my mom's real mother passed away when my mom was just two years old worked there at the fair for years. I think they were called "carneys" who worked the fairs, not sure if that is correct or if the spelling is correct either. But I remember the giant cowboy there because we would go and visit her at the fair. I'm sure that cowboy has been there since the fair opened many years ago. There in the Dallas area is a cemetery called "Showman's Rest" at the Grove Hill Memorial Park where she is at rest. Thanks for the memory and don't stop walking buddy. The Eagles at 4 & 2 are still front runners for winning the NFC East Division.

The Washington Commanders (Redskins) are 3 & 3, after blowing a chance to be tied for 1^st place.

The Cowboys are 2-3-1 and are third in the east division playing so/so football.

The Giants are 2 & 4 after surprising everyone by beating the Eagles.

The Broncos are tied for first in a very hard West division.

The Colts are surprisingly 1^st in the South division

A strange start to a very interesting season.

Talking about the State Fair in Dallas brought back a memory.  Back in 2012, Big Tex caught fire and burned up.  They eventually rebuilt him.

Russ Martin had a 4 hour radio show every afternoon.  My wife and I laughed all the way home on our hour + drive home after work listening to his show.

Trump first said private donors would pay the bill, but he recently said he was paying for it. Next guess?

White House begins demolishing East Wing facade to build Trump’s ballroom

The president had claimed construction of the $250 million ballroom wouldn’t ‘interfere’ with the existing White House structure.

Demolition crews on Monday began tearing down part of the White House to build President Donald Trump’s long-desired ballroom despite his pledge that construction of the $250 million addition wouldn’t “interfere” with the existing building.

Construction teams were demolishing a portion of the East Wing, with a backhoe ripping through the structure, according to a photo shared with The Washington Post and two people who witnessed the activity and spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe it.

A cluster of people, including members of the Secret Service, stood on the steps of the Treasury Department to watch the construction unfold, said one of the people. Sounds of construction were also audible on the White House campus, although the project was not easily visible to the public given fencing on the grounds.

Trump acknowledged the project in remarks Monday afternoon in the White House’s East Room, gesturing to the wall behind him.

“Right on the other side, you have a lot of construction going on, which you might hear periodically,” the president said at an event honoring the Louisiana State University and Louisiana State University at Shreveport baseball teams. He subsequently posted on his Truth Social platform that the “much-needed project” had begun...........

“Trump’s billionaire ballroom. This is a disgrace. Welcome to the Second Gilded Age,” Rep. Darren Soto (D-Florida) wrote on social media.

Dick – I guess the tents they use now for big events is much more attractive than having a permanent ballroom.  I Think the greatest country in the world should have something more elegant than a tent to host large events.

Just my thoughts

This is the only thing I can find online - "The United States government does not have an officially stated cost for tent and setup for large events, but estimates for previous, similar large-scale events have exceeded $1 million for the tents alone." 

The Obama Presidential Library had a estimated cost of $300 million.  The estimated total cost is now $850 million.  It will be interesting to see if Trump will be able to build the new White house ballroom at or under budget.
