We lost a good man too soon in Don.  Many fond memories from RHS. Condolences and best wishes to his family.

Dick,

Please tell us again:  In how many baseball games did you play, where the first inning score determined the final outcome?

Best (again) as always,

Rowland

Thank you Rowland, I had similar thoughts, but you expressed it much better than I could have.

I don't pay a lot of attention to polls.

Rowland Greenwade

Nelson,

Did I (speel) your name correctly this time?

Yes, polls are, in the short run, meaningless.

Long run RESULTS are what is known as HISTORY.

Just my humble opinion.

Rowland

WITH ALL THE WEATHER, FIRES, ETC.ETC.

HOW IS EVERYONE DOING?

ALSO NEED TO TRAING SOMEONE TO TAKE OVER THE SITE.

Dick,

Have you been playing with your goat?  Wait...You don't have one, Trump got it. We DO know that you have a chain, because he just jerked it, AGAIN!

Sleep well, my friend, with or without the whiskey you recommended.  As your self-proclaimed legal advisor, at least for this site, I will assure you there will never be a 3rd term for Trump.

Please don't share this opinion with your Democrat friends.  Republicans get so much free entertainment watching the liberal nightly news persons freaking out over such stories.

Best as always,

Rowland

P.S.:  I probably need to begin to send you some bills for all this "wisdom" legal knowledge I am extending to you.

Rowland,

You hit the nail on the head!!!

Our daily entertainment is watching the nightly news to see them freaking out.

04/03/25 06:12 PM #8493

Dick Storey

Rowland---Well, of course he will never serve a third term. As everyone but Trump and a few of his cronies know.

Ahhh, goat and chain. Good one, Rowland. But I take it cum grana salis.

Send me the bill, I have a quarter saved for you.  No tariff.

Stay well.

Nelson- It looks like you are easily entertained.

PS: I think Earl Campbell and Adrian Peterson are tied for the authentic G.O.A.T.

Dick,

While you directed your response to Nelson, in all fairness, he was responding to my post that we were entertained by "watching the nightly news persons  [anchors and newscasters] persons who should "know better", freaking out". Not the general public.

Your post mentions hundreds, later "1000s total" of what I would only descrbe as "sheep" or "lemmings", also known as "useful idiots" ,directed to jump over the cliff at the direction of Shumer, Sanders, AOC, Jeffries, Pocahantas (fill in the name of persons who are not the acknowledged leaders of the Democrat Party) because Trump wants to take away their earned Social Security related benefits.

It is Trump's unequivocal position that he will never lessen earned SS benefits for legitimate beneficiaries. Eliminate fraud, waste, and abuse...YES.  Grow the economy to ensure the future of the benefits...YES.

Seems as if you are the only one pouring salis "salt" on your word(s) wounds.  Now, that's entertainment!

Best as always,

Rowland

Hello Rowland,

In response to your most recent message (which I cannot find today): Hate is a strong word that fails to characterize the situation. You don’t actually know what “party” I currently belong to, if any.

Trump’s tax (aka tariff) on Americans will primarily help his multi-rich friends, via income tax reductions for them and their far-flung corporations. For the rest of us, economists predict the tax will carve away at our retirement nest-eggs, hamstring or close American businesses and farms and likely spawn a recession, maybe world-wide. I hope they are wrong.

So far for us, we’ve lost thousands of $  from our savings and stock from the Trump & republican debacle.

We wonder how this Gordian knot will unfold. If at all.

His tax plan, along with frequent spurious claims and demegogery, has unnecessarily infuriated many or even most of our allies and set his base atingle.  What’s not to like?

The expiry of our republic as we love it is in the Trump cross-hairs. Face it.

PS:  The latest t-shirt/banner we see declares “CANADA IS NOT FOR SALE” (a number of Canadians travel through here on the way to and from summer homes to the south).

Dick – I been trying to stay out of this discussion but who would you prefer as President Kamala Haris or Trump?

Nova---neither one.

Ok, now I'm going to wade in to this still friendly discussion among classmates with a few comments:                  1. As an lifelong engineer I spent a fair amount of time early on developing a Failure Root Cause methodology that got a nice letter from the AF and  the government. The common sense idea is to develop a running list of all possible causes of a failure that can be identified and determine the causal chain by measurement and experiment. I think that's still in process for autism. As far as I can tel,l Mr Kennedy has traditionally jumped to a conclusion or two and the rest of medical research is probably looking hard, but using independent groups with their own set of potential biases and shortcomings more than they should. A truly focused approach mediated and organized into a single team should probably be used if not in place.

2. My career has involved contact with sensitive information.   If I were to have taken it home after work, left it in a box in my closet an then hidden some of it when the FBI discovered it and came to pick it up, I assure you I would not be able to write this without having to go through a prison mail content review for rest of my life! The fact that Trump was able to leave enough government judicial influence behind after leaving office clarifies just how much appointed legal positions can be corrupted.

3. As much as I applaud Mr Musk's techical leadership skills, he and Trump have no place laying off thousands of employees without even remotely thinking about how to truly minimize costs without crippling the government with employees treated like kindergarten children who have fill out "What have you done today, children?" forms.

I'm very much in favor of capitalism and democracy, but not when big money influence replaces the will of the people and politicians and staff are controlled by threats and "bribes" from businesses and political groups. What I see is a vengeful government arranging to settle in as a private country club with non- party members excluded with intent of maximizing the private capital running the government.

Just today, as an ongoing trend downward, the NASDAQ Composite declined ~ 3% while many of us lose more savings to Trump's tariffs and the economy could be in dire trouble.  Brilliant.

Which Grievances in the U.S. Declaration of Independence are most relevant today?

This link leads to the Declaration of Independence's 27 grievances against King George III's abuses of colonists.  It's instructive now to rank them in order of how you perceive their current applicability to Executive Branch actions.
