Rowland,

Good to hear from you, sir. I was concerned my favorite verbal jousting partner was sidelined with some inimitable Texas syndrome.

Well, the Longhorns made a very efficacious transition to the SEC, unlike my Sooners with a bust for a coach and an uncluttered gate to the portal. Nice timing OU.

My neighbors would swear I’ve been hibernating since Clinton left the White House.  Yet, Yellowstone, that entirely factual show, remains in Big Sky.

Will Trump’s favorite sidekick Musk (aka moskhos) shuttle the DOD and FBI and cut into social security & Medicare? Is it Musk for tsar?

Have a good, safe and productive 2025 and please stay on Bill’s and Nova’s pet cartoon site.

Interesting news item on Fox News

Prominent Democratic National Committee (DNC) powerhouse fundraiser Lindy Li announced that she is leaving the Democratic Party, which she referred to as a "cult," after facing an onslaught of internal attacks for criticizing Vice President Kamala Harris last week.

Li, a Democrat strategist, served as both a surrogate for Harris and a member of the DNC’s national fundraising committee, where she raised "tens of millions of dollars" on behalf of Democratic candidates. She also frequently appeared on the air to stump for Harris’ 2024 presidential campaign.

Li became the target of the left's attacks earlier this month when she expressed support for President-elect Donald Trump’s defense secretary nominee, Pete Hegseth. But it was the party's vitriolic response to a subsequent appearance on Fox News that pushed her rightward, she said on "Piers Morgan Uncensored."

I hope I am on the right page for sending a message. I could not get on around Thanksgiving and not sure if thia is the right page. I wanted to wish all the RHS63 classmates a very merry Christmas and have a great new year. I missed wishing a happy thanksgiving and wishing Bill  Happy Birthday. We are having a mild winter here in Utah so far. Some snow in the mountains, not much in the lower valleys. Everyone take care of yourselves and do some partying. Stay safe. JOHN

I know it's  Christmas Time.  Please read the information below.  I received it from a VETERAN I know.

Integrity First... A Mother In Need

Synopsis: a friend and former colleague in the ER recently made the hard decision to report her soon to be ex-husband, a local LEO, to the Michigan State Police for possession of child pornography. She is a contractor and had insurance through her spouse which will be ending 1/1/2025. The imminent issue is that she is nearly 8 months pregnant and has a 4 year old son. She was denied Medicaid, but is still trying to resolve the back and forth with the 'Marketplace'. She is also at risk of losing her home and bills piling up during this holiday season.

Of all places, I know SOCnet understands the meaning of integrity and doing the right thing. I humbly ask that if you feel moved, please consider sharing within your circles for this young woman. Thank you and Merry Christmas to all of you!

Jimmy Carter: He was not perfect, but the world lost a great man yesterday, and a great woman -Rosalynn- about a year earlier.

awarded the Nobel Peace Prize 2002.

Prize motivation: “for his decades of untiring effort to find peaceful solutions to international conflicts, to advance democracy and human rights, and to promote economic and social development”

Trump on Jimmy Carter:

"President Jimmy Carter is dead at 100 years of age. While I strongly disagreed with him philosophically and politically, I also realized that he truly loved and respected our Country, and all it stands for."

"The challenges Jimmy faced as President came at a pivotal time for our country and he did everything in his power to improve the lives of all Americans. For that, we all owe him a debt of gratitude."

"He worked hard to make America a better place, and for that I give him my highest respect. He was a truly good man and, of course, will be greatly missed," his post continued. "He was also very consequential, far more than most Presidents, after he left the Oval Office. Warmest condolences from Melania and I to his wonderful family!"

Good evenng,

1/6/2025

Today is the 4th anniversary of Trump’s failed Jan 6, 2021 attempt to takeover our constitutional republic and the U.S. government.

Yet, he has been elected again. Will his coup succeed the next time?  What, you think it won’t happen again in 4 years?

Some 140+ capital police officers were assaulted and injured, in various ways, during and after the riot he summoned that frightful week. Legislators, including the VP, among others, were petrified and endangered.

Yet, he wants to pardon many insurrectionists who welded fists, bats, knives, pepper spray, and other weapons against the police that inexcusable day.  Trump calls jailed  rioters "hostages"-- simply among tourists just visiting the capital that day.

I thought I’d stir the pot once again. ☺

Dick - I definitely remember that day - watching on TV with the sick to my stomach feeling and fear that I felt for the democracy of our country !

Interesting thoughts on both sides.  It has definitely been a learning experience, often a disappointing one.

I do not believe that the outlook was very good either way the election went.  I am just trying to protect my assets while sitting back, and watching the fireworks.

Elon coming out of the closet has clearly proven that the rich own and control our government   I see them continuing to further enrich themselves at the expense of the rest of us  This is nothing new.

The national debt interest is becoming our biggest expense.  There is not enough money in budget slashing to balance our budget   We must increase revenue and the only way to do that is change tax laws   That is not going to happen!  We have billionaires', like Musk who's Tesla pays no taxes and Trump who doesn't pay taxes because he is "smart".  Unfortunately, they are far from being the only ones!  My rich friends are obsessed with figuring out ways to avoid taxes. I pay plenty in taxes but would certainly by willing to pay a little more, but not while the rich are leeching off of us.

I watched January 7th's Mar-a-Lago press conference with rising concern that the U.S. is supplanting its democracy (constitutional republic) with a donocracy.

Dick

Take your pop and add the following and stir to your heart’s content.

1 lb dry pinto beans

2 8oz cans tomato sauce

2 medium onions diced

10 cloves garlic chopped

60 oz chicken broth

3 ham hocks smoked

Soak beans in water – boil in water for three minutes.

Cover and let rest one hour.

Water should be 5 or 6 inches above dry beans before you start.

Drain after one hour.

Sauté onion, garlic in olive oil for about 6 to 8 minutes.

First Onions for 6 minutes than add garlic for last 2 or 3 minutes.

Add to beans, add chicken broth, tomato sauce, ¼ teaspoon peppers, ½ tablespoon Cumin powder and ham hocks.

1st day – simmer 4 to 6 hours on low heat one or two bubbles on top – meat should start to fall apart.

2nd day – Simmer 2 to 3 more hours - remove meat from bones (discard bones)

Enjoy beans.

The pinto bean recipe was my brothers, Lanny, award wining recipe.

Dick - I think you will enjoy the results much more than the results for the pot you wanted to stir again.

Nova, thanks for the recipe. I've got ham hocks left over from holidays in the freezer and I'm going to give this a try. Think I'll just make a half recipe because I'm only cooking for myself. Happy  ew Year everybody!

RE: post 8404

Dick,

If in fact there is another coup attempt in 4 years, it will not be instigated by Trump.  Unlike many on the left who disregard the law of the land, the U.S. Constitution,  Trump is well aware that he is limited to only 2 terms as President.

I have come to believe that a lot of the Dems operate from the credo of "if I said it, it must be true".  Biden is far and away the worst of the lot.
