Lifted from a speech by President Ronald Reagan at the opening of the Carter the Presidential Center in Atlanta, Georgia on October, 1986

"None of us today need feel any urge, in the name of good will, to downplay our differences. On the contrary, in a certain sense we can be proud of our differences, because they arise from good will itself---for love of country; for concern for the challenges of our time; from respect for, and yes, even outright enjoyment of, the democratic processes of disagreement and debate."

Later in the article by Crag Shirley: Several years later, Carter returned the favor and attended the opening of the Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California.

And: Two presidents, two different parties, two different backgrounds but also two men of honor and humility with a singular love of Country.

Karine Jean-Pierre slips up, says “President Obama” named nominee

President Joe Biden turned 80 years old this past November and appears to be suffering from cognitive decline, something which has led critics to question whether he is really in charge of his administration.

Those questions grew louder this week after White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre momentarily suggested that former President Barack Obama is running the show.

“President Obama announced that—Pardon me, President Biden!”

According to Fox News, the slip-up came during a press conference on Tuesday as Jean-Pierre discussed Biden’s nominee to lead the World Bank.

“So today, as you all saw just an hour or so ago, President Obama announced that—Pardon me, President Biden!” Jean-Pierre said before catching herself.

“Whoa! Ahem, that is news. I know, we’re going back not forwards. We’ve gotta go forwards,” the press secretary added as the assembled journalists laughed.

However, some Twitter users were quick to argue that businessman Ajay Banga was nominated as World Bank head under the direction of Obama.

“Obama is in his 3rd term”

This is not a slip of tongue, she was just reading notes. Its president Obama who has appointed Ajay Banga as president of World Bank.

One observer noted that Jean-Pierre’s comment wasn’t a one-off, as former White House press secretary Jen Psaki once made a similar statement.

We know Obama is in his 3rd term
Jen Psaki & Karine Jean-Pierre both reminded us of that, said “President Obama” instead of Biden pic.twitter.com/8mJFlXrA3P

Jean-Pierre’s remarks came just over a week after White House physician Kevin O’Connor presented a glowing report on Biden, deeming him to be “healthy” and “vigorous.”

Former White House doctor: Administration “concealing the truth” on Biden’s health

However, former White House physician and current Texas Republican Rep. Ronnie Jackson disagreed with O’Connor’s assessment.

“The majority of Americans can see that Biden’s mental health is in total decline, yet there is no transparency from the White House on what’s going on, if anything, to address this issue and his inability to do his job,” Jackson told Fox News last Friday.

“Yesterday’s written physical exam report released by Biden’s physician, Kevin O’Connor, further confirms that this administration is still adamant about concealing the truth,” he continued.

“Nowhere in the report was there mention of Biden’s deteriorating mental health,” the conservative congressman complained

Dick,

Forget about national/international/partisan issues:  What the hell (should this be capitilized as a place name?), is Baseball doing with these new time-related rules?  I guess the rules changes come from the team owners.  While they may "own" teams and players (some would in past times (no pun intended) said slaves, but they do not "own" the game.

Baseball is the "perfect" sport.  Who thought it up?  How did whomever they were know that 90 feet was the "perfect" distance for bases.  How could "they" know that 60'6" was the "perfect" distance from the mound to the plate?  Think about it::  Did God create baseball in is leisure time?  Is there a missing book in the Bible?

Maybe so...Baseball is a leisure-time sport.  No clock, such as football.  Once a long time ago,  a close friend, classmate, and avid football fan attempted to tell me how much time was wasted during a 9 inning baseball game.  Said it took almost 3 hours to play.

I reminded him that a football game has a 60 minute clock, but the games last (then) about 3 hours (180 minutes).  Last time we had this conversation.

These new rules are an attempt by corporate interests to make baseball games fit into TV timeframes...Not to improve the game or fans' interests.

Since baseball is something we both agree you know about, what is your opinion?

Again, best as always,

Rowland

Hello Rowland,

Baseball.

Yes, I played the game, including a baesball scholarship at UNM. After graduation,I coached basebsll and basketall at Manzano High in ABQ until grad. school.

To the rule changes. I'd say give the players, coaches, fans, etc a chance to get used to them and see what they each think. I do like the no-shift rule. I hated it when teams used a shift when playing us at UNM. Pitch count—let’s see. Looks like the hitters get burned on it more than pitchers. (Bill-can't get this out of bold- the site just decided to do it on its own--??).

But of course the owners will decide, probably as TV dictates.

I must admit my wife and I are not really much of baseball fans anymore. Fun to play but not so much to watch on TV. Now, attending the Rockies game-yes. Where else can you get a beer and hot dog for $20?

Oh yes, serious fans when our grandson plays the game.

Stay well,

Dick
