I try and not to post some things.  BUT THIS MESSAGE UPSET ME.  LIKE A LOT OF INDIVIDUALS ON THIS SITE ARE VETERANS OR HAD LOVED ONE THAT IS A VETERAN'S. FRIENDS  CLASSMATES WE LOST IN NAM. THEIR NAMES ARE ON THE WALL. crying  TO TELL ME JUST BECAUSE I AM A RETIRED VETERAN OR PRIOR SERVICE, I AM RESTRICTED FROM SAYING WHAT I THINK ABOUT WHAT IS GOING ON NOW.  WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED TO FREE SPEECH.

I UNDERSTAND BEING IN THE MILITARY NOWADAYS,  AN IN UNIFORM YOU HAVE TO WATCH WHAT YOU SAY. IT'S ALWAYS BEEN THAT WAY. I AGREE.

EXCLUSIVE: Active Duty, Retired Naval Intelligence Members Told They Cannot ‘Disrespect’ Biden Over Afghanistan Debacle

Top leadership at the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) informed active duty and retired service members that they cannot condemn President Joe Biden amid the chaotic — and now deadly — pullout of American troops from Afghanistan.

In an email from the ONI’s Chief of Staff, ONI

members were reminded that per a Uniform Code of Military Justice and Department of Defense Directive clause they cannot disrespect senior government leadership. This includes the President, Vice President, Congress, the Secretary of Defense, and more.

Given the heightened political and social atmosphere surrounding Afghanistan, it is important to remind our uniformed personnel (active duty and reservists on temporary active duty) and military retirees of their responsibilities and obligations under Article 88 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice and Department of Defense Directive 1344.10.

While it is vital to protect the constitutional right of freedom of expression for these groups, consistent with mission accomplishment, national security, and good order and discipline, it’s important to remember certain limitations.

Namely, uniformed personnel and military retirees are prohibited from disrespecting senior government leadership (e.g. the President, Vice President, Congress, Secretary of Defense, Service Secretaries, etc.).

JUST AN OLD RETIRED 1SG

SORRY IF I PISSED OF SOME OF YOU, CLASSMATES. WITH MY POSTING.

Bill,  thanks for the post.  I understand if you are active military, you should "keep your mouth shut".  I do not understand about the retired military abiding by the same rules, After all, retired servicemen and women are running for office.  I just do not understand this rule as it seems to be a double standard.

LACoFD CONTINUES TO PROVIDE SUPPORT & RESOURCES TO BATTLE MEGA WILDFIRES THROUGHOUT CALIFORNIA

Dozens of firefighters and resources have been deployed to assist with

four major wildfires, including the fast-moving Caldor Fire.

Los Angeles, CA – In recent days, the Caldor Fire has drastically intensified amid dry and windy conditions, prompting the evacuation of 60,000 residents as it burns toward and threatens South Lake Tahoe.  In response to this immediate threat, the Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD) has joined other fire agencies to maximize the deployment of Statewide resources to support fire suppression efforts.

“The 2021 wildfire season has proven to be challenging once again,” said Los Angeles County Fire Chief Daryl L. Osby.  “As always, we continue to strategize and utilize our resources to collectively battle wildfires because every wildfire becomes a shared fight to protect residents and communities.”

The LACoFD continues to provide ongoing support and out-of-County resources to assist in battling major wildfires throughout California.  Currently, six LACoFD engine strike teams, along with two camp crew strike teams, Helitanker 55 (a contracted Coulson Chinook helicopter), and 38 overhead personnel have been assigned to the following incidents:

  • Dixie Fire

         807,396 acres           48% containment

  • Caldor Fire

         191,607 acres           16% containment

  • Monument Fire

         170,945 acres           29% containment

  • French Fire

         25,643 acres             40% containment

Additionally, as the Region 1 Coordinator for Los Angeles, Orange, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, and Ventura Counties, Chief Osby has activated and fully staffed the LACoFD’s 9-1-1 Los Angeles Communications Center to assist with mutual aid requests.

Here locally, the LACoFD’s annually leased SuperScoopers arrived on Monday, August 30, 2021, and will be placed in service tomorrow, September 1, 2021.  Additionally, the LACoFD continues to evaluate staffing needs and remains prepared to respond to local emergency incidents.

Here's praying that they can contain these fires. Resources are not able to keep up with demand and the fire department is working with exhausted personnel.

Bill

Thank you for the in-depth reply.  So, we have a perfect storm, climate change, the State and Federal Government refusing to do what should be done, not listening to the people who have managed the situation before.  Instead, The Government adds on more regulations to make the situation even worse.

I just read this article about states forest management.  Pretty much says what you have been saying.

Analysis: California’s government solely responsible for states forest management and wildfire debacle | Climate Depot

California’s government solely responsible for states forest management and wildfire debacle

by Larry Hamlin

The inept government, political and regulatory policies of California have clearly driven the present forest management calamitous conditions with that failure leading to disastrous wildfires throughout the state.

Those government and political leaders that are responsible for this situation that has been decades in the making have tried to conceal their incompetence by making scientifically unsupported propaganda claims that “climate change” caused this situation. These government-driven problems are clearly identified in two recent reports – one by Cal Fire and the other by the California Legislative Analysts Office.

The state has established a huge gauntlet of regulatory agencies whose policies, procedures, and actions have interfered with, misdirected, wasted, and delayed the use of appropriate resources that have led to the present forest management and wildfire catastrophe.

Cal Fire has identified a series of high priority wildfire policy actions that need to be addressed and that reflect decades-long policy inaction by the state which have led to the buildup of increasing wildfire risks that are responsible for the severity of recent California wildfires.

How would we react if it was our son or daughter?

Instagram Apologizes After Suspending Account Of Gold Star Mother Who Lost Son In Afghanistan Terror Attack

Instagram has apologized after suspending the account of a Gold Star mother who lost her son in the terror attack on Kabul’s Hamid Karzai International Airport last week.

The Facebook-controlled platform told The Washington Examiner that Shana Chappell’s account had been suspended in “error.” Chappell has been vocal on social media about holding President Joe Biden responsible for the death of her son, 20-year-old Lance Cpl. Kareem Nikolai.

“We express our deepest condolences to Ms. Chappell and her family. Her tribute to her heroic son does not violate any of our policies,” Instagram’s statement continued.

Chappell brought attention to her suspension from Instagram on Monday, posting a message on Facebook slamming the platform for her suspension and Biden over his handling of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan.

“It seems Instagram took it upon themselves to delete my account because I am assuming it was because I gained so many followers over my son's death due to Biden’s negligence, ignorance, and him being a traitor!” Chappell wrote. “I’m gonna assume that Facebook is gonna delete me next! Funny how these leftist one-sided pieces of crap don’t want the truth to come out!”

Nikolai died last week during a terror attack on Karzai by the Islamic State-affiliated group ISIS-K. A suicide bomber detonated his bomb vest near one of the main gates to the airport, killing Nikoui and a dozen other U.S. service members as well as dozens of Afghan civilians. Chappell and her husband have been outspoken in their criticism of Biden in social media posts and during television interviews.

In one post, Chappell relayed her interaction with the president during Nikoui’s homecoming at Dover Air Force Base Sunday. She wrote:

[President Biden] This msg is for you! I know my face is etched into your brain! I was able to look you straight in the eyes yesterday and have words with you. After I lay my son to rest you will be seeing me again! Remember I am the one who stood 5 inches from your face and was letting you know I would never get to hug my son again, hear his laugh, and then you tried to interrupt me and give me your own sob story and I had to tell you “that this isn’t about you so don’t make it about you!!!”

You then said you just wanted me to know that you know how I feel and I let you know that you don’t know how I feel and you do not have the right to tell me you know how I feel! U then rolled your f***ing eyes in your head like you were annoyed with me and I let you know that the only reason I was talking to you was out of respect for my son and that was the only reason why, I then proceeded to tell you again how you took my son away from me and how I will never get to hug him, kiss him, laugh with him again, etc… u turned to walk away and I let you know my son's blood was on your hands and you threw your hand up behind you as you walked away from me like you were saying “ ok whatever!!! You are not the president of the United States of America Biden!!!! Cheating isn’t winning!!! You are no leader of any kind! You are a weak human being and a traitor!!!! You turned your back on my son, on all of our Heros!!! you are leaving the White House one way or another because you do not belong there! MY SONS BLOOD IS ON YOUR HANDS!!! All 13 of them, their blood is on your hands!!!! If my President Trump was in his rightful seat then my son and the other Heros would still be alive!!!! You will be seeing me again very soon!!! Btw as my son and the rest of our fallen Heros were being taken off the plane yesterday I watched you disrespect us all 5 different times by checking your watch!!! What the f*** was so important that you had to keep looking at your watch???? You are nobody special Biden!!! America Hates you!!!!!

although initial reports said that the Taliban seized $85 billion in equipment left by American forces, that number accounts for all of the money expended to assist the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) since 2001.

Using a percentage provided by the Government Accountability Office (GAO), the Post reported that the “equipment provided to Afghan forces amounted to $24 billion over 20 years. The GAO said approximately 70 percent of the equipment went to the Afghan military and the rest went to the national police (part of the Interior Ministry).”

It is not clear how much of that equipment ended up in the hands of the Taliban. “With great fanfare, the Taliban has seized a number of Black Hawk helicopters, including ones that the United States had just shipped this year at the request of former Afghan president Ashraf Ghani,” the Post added, noting that the Taliban does not have many qualified pilots and that they targeted Afghan military pilots for execution before taking Kabul.

Upon leaving, CENTCOM said, “the military ‘demilitarized’ 70 MRAPs, 27 Humvees and 73 aircraft,” likely including those helicopters the Taliban is now reportedly angry about.

The final American evacuation flights departed Kabul, Afghanistan around 3:30 ET on Monday afternoon, and there is no official American military presence inside the country. Although the president, at one point, pledged to keep the American military in Kabul until all Americans who wanted to leave had been rescued, the Pentagon and State Department, as well as CENTCOM, have admitted that there are Americans trapped behind enemy lines.
