Laqueda (Queda) Mahoney was born Sept. 10, 1945 in Roswell, NM to John T. Watson and Nadine A. Meyers. Laqueda passed away at her residence on Camano Island, WA, November 6, 2015 succumbing to cancer.
After graduating from Roswell High School, Laqueda continued her education, receiving a BA Degree from the University of Colorado and an MBA from Portland Sate University.
She taught school for 31 years in Wyoming, Colorado and Oregon, concluding her teaching career at
Neah-Kah-Nie High School in 2000. She enjoyed reconnecting with former students and
sharing life experiences.
Laqueda was an advisor for Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) for 26 years and was
the Oregon Advisor of the Year and selected for the National FBLA Wall of Fame. Laqueda was
chosen Teacher of the Year in 1997 by the Tillamook Chamber of Commerce.
Traveling the globe, attending concerts and plays with friends and spending many days
looking for treasure with her metal detector on Tillamook County beaches were a few of the
things she enjoyed. She will be missed and will always be remembered by all that knew he
r and were lucky enough to be a part of her life.
At her request there will be no services. Donations can be made in her name to the General Foundation, Providence Regional Cancer Partnership, Cancer Center Funds, Everett, WA.
