A new study has found that antipsychotic drugs may increase the risk of premature death in patients with dementia even more than previously thought. The medications are often used to treat the delusions, hallucinations and agitation that occur in many people with Alzheimer's disease. Researchers looked at data from nearly 91,000 Veterans who were older than 65 and had dementia. Those who took antipsychotics were more likely to die early.
